Broadbrook Mountain Trees is a bare root tree nursery specializing in hardy native and food-bearing species. Our long-term goal is to multiply and disperse plants that can help our communities mitigate climate change by improving ecological health and local food availability.
Unlike most commercial nurseries, we grow using sustainable and regenerative practices, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. To a great extent, this means establishing permanent growing beds that are continuously enriched through the use of cover crops, interplanting, and added organic material from our farm’s “waste” stream: wood chips, mulch hay, wool tags, and manure.
We acknowledge that the land where we farm is unceded Abenaki territory. Our family has had the privilege of stewarding this place for three generations, and we continue to learn from it. A core facet of Broadbrook Mountain Trees as an enterprise is that it inspires us to maintain and enhance our connection to the land and its history, and to share this connection with the community that surrounds us.
